Trenchless Replacement and Installation of Pipelines
Trenchless Replacement of Pressurized Pipelines
The hydros® methodwas developed by KARL WEISS Technologies GmbH for the fast and cost-effective trenchless replacement of pressure pipes (service and supply lines). Unlike other rehabilitation methods, the hydros® processcompletely removes the brittle old pipe material (e.g., gray cast iron or asbestos cement) from the pipe zone and the surrounding soil.

Hydraulic Push-Pull Method for Trenchless Pipe Replacement and Installation
The name hydros®stands for “hydraulic pipe pulling and splitting method.” To replace a pipe, the new pipe string is attached to the end of the old pipeline using an adapter. Using an extremely quiet (<, 55 dB(A)) and vibration-free hydraulic pulling device, a new pipe made of any material is pulled into the ground at the same time that the old pipes are pressed out. For this reason, the hydros® methodis also referred to in the DVGW standard GW 322-1 (A) as a “push-pull method in a single operation” and is certified in supplementary group GN 1 in accordance with DVGW GW 301.
Proven process variants are available for replacing everything from DN 13 lead service lines to DN 400 asbestos-cement pipes. With additional equipment, new pipes can also be installed trenchlessly.
