Gas Pipeline Rehabilitation

Solutions for Your Gas Pipelines

Rehabilitation of gas pipelines up to DN 600 at 30 bar

For the rehabilitation of gas pipelines, starline® processes are used up to DN 600 (DN 1200 with special equipment) and operating pressures up to 30 bar to permanently restore the required operational safety. The rehabilitated pipeline can therefore be treated like a new pipeline and fully capitalized for economic purposes, i.e., depreciated over its useful life.

Innovative Solutions with starline® Technology

We have developed specialized fabric liners, adhesives, and matching technical equipment for the following applications in gas pipe rehabilitation:

  • starline®HPL-G: Rehabilitation of High-Pressure Pipelines
  • starline®2000: Rehabilitation of supply lines
  • starline®200: Rehabilitation of service lines

Key steps in pipe rehabilitation using these methods include inspecting the pipeline via camera inspection, thorough cleaning, lining with the starline® fabric liner, pressure testing the rehabilitated pipeline, and, if necessary, accessing branch lines and connections using a robot from inside the pipeline.

By the way: Future maintenance and repair work can be performed using standard tools and does not require any special attachments.

starline®HPL-G for Gas Transmission Pipelines

The starline®HPL-G processis used to rehabilitate high-pressure steel gas pipelines with an operating pressure of up to 30 bar using a high-strength fabric liner. Existing and future corrosion penetrations of up to 50 mm, which pose a significant risk, are efficiently, quickly, and permanently eliminated using this process.
Weld seam fracture resistance is increased. With the starline®HPLtechnology, developed specifically for the rehabilitation of transport pipelines, only a small excavation pit is required at intervals of up to 180 m for thorough cleaning of the pipeline, and installation lengths of up to 600 m are possible for the fabric liner. Since the diameter of the fabric liner is designed to match the inner diameter of the pipeline being rehabilitated, a wrinkle-free lining is achieved despite the high-strength, seamless fabric liner. Thanks to the full-surface bonding of the liner, migration is prevented, and the pipe can be drilled into later without any problems using conventional tools. It is even possible to weld on new branch lines, as the welding temperature has only a localized effect on the fabric liner.
