Renovation of gas pipes

Water, energy and sustainable wastewater solutions for all

Renovation of gas pipes up to DN 600 at 30 bar

For the rehabilitation of gas pipelines, starline® processes up to DN 600 (DN 1200 with special equipment) and operating pressures of up to 30 bar are used to permanently restore the required operational safety. The rehabilitated pipeline can therefore be treated as a new pipeline and fully capitalized economically, i.e. depreciated over its useful life.

Innovative solutions with starline® technology

We have developed special fabric hoses, adhesives and matching technical equipment for the following gas pipe renovation applications:

  • starline®HPL-G: Renovation of high-pressure pipes
  • starline®2000: Renovation of supply lines
  • starline®200: Renovation of connecting pipes

The main steps in pipe rehabilitation using these methods are inspection of the pipe using camera inspection, thorough cleaning, lining with the starline® fabric hose, pressure testing of the rehabilitated pipe and, if necessary, opening of outlets and connections using a robot from inside the pipe.

Incidentally, future maintenance and repair work can be carried out using standard tools and does not require any special attachments.

starline®HPL-G for gas transport lines

The starline®HPL-G processis used to renovate high-pressure steel gas pipes with an operating pressure of up to 30 bar using a high-strength fabric hose. Existing and future corrosion breakthroughs of up to 50 mm, which represent an enormous risk potential, are eliminated efficiently, quickly and permanently using this process.
The weld seam fracture resistance is increased. With the starline®HPLtechnology specially developed for the rehabilitation of transport pipelines, only a small excavation is required at a maximum distance of 180 m to thoroughly clean the pipeline and installation lengths of up to 600 m are possible for the fabric hose. As the diameter of the fabric hose is designed to match the inside diameter of the pipe to be rehabilitated, a crease-free lining is achieved despite the high-strength and seamless fabric hose. Thanks to the full-surface bonding of the hose, migration behind the pipe is impossible and the pipe can be subsequently drilled without any problems using conventional tools. It is even possible to weld on new outlets, as the welding temperature only has a localized effect on the fabric hose.
